Fortune 5 Corporation
A
unit of a Fortune 5 company was experiencing increasing demands
for its services, resulting in a straining of the supporting information
systems. As a result of a series of implemented recommendations
in process flow, software, and hardware elements, the system capabilities
were significantly enhanced. Several functions were completely redesigned
to improve end-user productivity and the interface to external clients.
Other efforts created performance response time improvements of
greater than 90%. These cumulative efforts helped to improve system
responsiveness, user productivity, and extend the functionality
of the applications.
Healthcare
Insurance Provider
Working
with a major healthcare insurance provider, Smyth Consulting, Inc.
provided consultative services for two efforts. After working with
senior management to define the requirements, goals, and objectives
of the services proposed, a full project plan with schedules, resources
and phased implementation dates was developed. The other effort
defined and developed for executive management a "proof-of-concept"
effort which examined the viability of extracting data from the
mainframe and generating required and ad-hoc reporting through a
client server architecture. This effort successfully demonstrated
a much more efficient and less costly method for the analysis and
mining of corporate data than currently utilized applications.
Healthcare
Services Provider
For
a healthcare services provider, Smyth Consulting, Inc. was engaged
to evaluate and recommend enhancements to a recently implemented
750+ table Hospital Information System and assist management with
the development of standards and strategic plans. The Assessment
Report provided the Corporate Chief Executive Officer with a road
map for decision making. It identified specific deficiency areas
and provided recommendations for improvement of the database model,
including the streamlining of data redundancy, hardware and storage
utilization, and tuning of access strategies.
